Roddick, Isner advance in Atlanta

ATLANTA, July 23 (UPI) -- Andy Roddick and John Isner, the tournament's top two seeds, both reached the semifinals Friday at the Atlanta Tennis Championships.

The top-seeded Roddick rallied to defeat Xavier Malisse in the quarterfinals 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This event is being held for the first time since 2001 and Roddick defeated Malisse in the finals that year.

Isner coasted to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Michael Russell in a match that took less than an hour to complete. Isner is competing for the first time since Wimbledon, when he won an epic 11-hour match over Nicolas Mahut in the first round.

Kevin Anderson set up a semifinal meeting with Isner by downing Lukas Lacko 6-3, 6-4. Roddick's semifinal foe will be Mardy Fish, who defeated Taylor Dent 6-3, 6-0.
