MLB: Texas 1, Los Angeles Angels 0

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 23 (UPI) -- C.J. Wilson allowed four base runners over eight innings Friday and combined with Neftali Feliz to give Texas a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

The Rangers have won seven of nine games since the All-Star break and defeated the Angels by a single run for the second straight night.

Texas moved seven games in front of the Angels in the American League West and the division rivals will meet five more times in the next nine days.

The contest's only run came on Michael Young's second first-inning homer in as many games. Young's opposite field blast came off Joe Saunders (6-10), who has won just one of his last seven starts and has an 0-6 career record against the Rangers.

Wilson (9-5) gave up a single in each of the first three innings, but one of those runners was erased in a double play. The other hit off Wilson was a single in the eighth and none of the Los Angeles runners moved past first base.

Feliz worked a perfect ninth for his 27th save.
