MILWAUKEE, July 23 (UPI) -- Jim Edmonds, forced into the game when Corey Hart was injured, hit a two-run homer in the seventh Friday that brought Milwaukee a 7-5 win over Washington.
Hart suffered a hand injury while diving for a third-inning fly ball in right field and Edmonds wound up with three RBI as his replacement.
The Brewers overcame a 5-1 deficit with two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings and Edmonds homered in the seventh off Sean Burnett (0-5) after Rickie Weeks had drawn a walk to lead off the inning.
Milwaukee opened a homestand after a 4-4 road trip.
Kameron Loe (1-1) worked two innings of relief to get the victory and John Axford worked a perfect ninth for his 14th save.
Mike Morse hit two home runs and had four RBI for Washington, which was coming off back-to-back wins against Cincinnati.
