Oosthuizen leads Scandinavian Masters

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 22 (UPI) -- British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen is among a group of three players tied for the lead after Thursday's first round of the Scandinavian Masters in Sweden.

Oosthuizen is coming off a stunning 7-stroke victory at the British Open for his first major tournament title. He continued his solid play Thursday with a round that included six birdies and one bogey for a 5-under-par 67.

Richard Green and Dustin Johnson also turned in 67s Thursday and are tied with Oosthuizen. K.J. Choi leads a group of four players who had 4-under 68s and another six golfers are at 3-under 69 after the first round.

Oosthuizen opened his round Thursday with a birdie and then ran off eight consecutive pars. He had birdies at Nos. 10 and 12 before finding the water on the par-5, 565-yard 13th hole and ending up with bogey.

He answered that with back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15 and pulled into a tie for the lead with a long birdie putt on the 18th hole.

Johnson also birdied No. 18 for his share of the lead. He didn't have a bogey in his 5-under round.

Green had grabbed the early lead with six birdies in an eight-hole span. But he also had bogeys at Nos. 8 and 17 before he added his birdie at No. 18.
