SEATTLE, July 22 (UPI) -- A two-run single by Franklin Gutierrez with one out in the 11th inning Wednesday rallied Seattle to a 2-1 decision over the Chicago White Sox.

Neither side could score through 10 innings, but the White Sox took the lead in the top of the 11th and then coughed up the advantage in the bottom half of the frame. The setback cut Chicago's lead over Minnesota in the American League Central to two games.

Bobby Jenks (1-3), who has 20 saves this season, came on in the 11th and gave up a bunt single to Jack Wilson on the first pitch. Wilson moved to second on a sacrifice by Ichiro Suzuki and took third on a single by Chone Figgins.

That brought up Gutierrez, and while he was at the plate Figgins stole second to put two runners in scoring position. They both came in when Gutierrez singled to center.

The White Sox scored in the top half of the inning on a double by Gordon Beckham and a single from Omar Vizquel.

Brandon League (7-6) got the win despite giving up the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th.

Felix Hernandez worked eight innings for the Mariners, striking out eight. Gavin Floyd went seven for Chicago.
