MLB: Atlanta 8, San Diego 0

ATLANTA, July 22 (UPI) -- Tim Hudson and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout Thursday and the Atlanta Braves took an 8-0 decision over the San Diego Padres.

Hudson (10-5) allowed the four hits -- all singles -- over seven innings. He walked one and struck out four. Michael Dunn walked three batters but got one out before yielding to Peter Moylan, who got a double play to end the eighth and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.

Atlanta scored in each of the first three innings in beating Clayton Richard (7-5), who allowed nine hits and four runs in six innings.

Troy Glaus's sacrifice fly opened the scoring and Alex Gonzalez singled in another run for a 2-0 lead in the first. Jason Heyward made it 3-0 the next inning with a run-scoring single and the Braves were up 4-0 in the third after Gonzalez doubled in Matt Diaz.

Atlanta got four runs off San Diego reliever Ryan Webb in the seventh with four Braves, including Eric Hinske who was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, knocking in runs.
