EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, July 22 (UPI) -- Ahn Sun-ju had an eagle on the 18th hole and is tied for the lead after the first round Thursday of the LPGA's Evian Masters in France.
Ahn ended up with a 6-under-par 66, a score matched by Morgan Pressel and Melissa Reid at the Evian Masters Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France.
M.J. Hur and Kim Song-hee are tied for fourth at 5-under 67 with seven golfers, including Michelle Wie, two strokes off the lead at 4-under 68. Defending champion and world No. 1 Ai Miyazato is among those at 3-under.
Ahn was even after six holes -- wiping out a second-hole bogey with a birdie at No. 3 -- and closed the front side with three consecutive birdies. She had a birdie at 12 but negated that with a bogey at No. 15. Ahn got back to 4-under with a 16th-hole birdie before the eagle at the par-5, 477-yard 18th hole.
Pressel got to 6-under par after the 12th hole but had a bogey at 13. A birdie at the par-3 17th hole gave her a share of the lead.
Reid has eight birdies -- seven in the run of hole from 5-13 -- but also bogeys at 8 and 16.
