CHICAGO, July 21 (UPI) -- Jason Michaels delivered a pinch-hit, two-run double in the 12th inning Wednesday to boost the Houston Astros to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
The Astros began the winning rally when they put two men on with one out against Bobby Howry (1-3). One out later, Jeff Stevens came on to pitch and Michaels lined a pitch up the left-center gap, scoring Chris Johnson and Jason Castro to make it 3-1 Houston.
Angel Sanchez then notched an RBI single -- his third hit of the game -- to give the Astros an insurance run they would end up needing.
Gustavo Chacin got his first career save in the bottom of the 12th despite allowing a two-run homer to Geovany Soto and putting two more runners on base before retiring Tyler Colvin on a line-out to end the game.
Brandon Lyon (6-4) got credit for the win with two scoreless innings for Houston.
Pedro Feliz knocked a solo homer in the eighth off Cubs starter Ted Lilly to knot the game 1-1.
Lilly tossed 7 1/3 strong inning allowing only the one run on seven hits, walking one and striking out six.
