
SEATTLE, July 21 (UPI) -- John Danks pitched 7 2/3 shutout innings Tuesday and the Chicago White Sox blanked Seattle 4-0.
Danks (10-7) allowed just two hits and four walks and struck out eight in leading the White Sox to their 11th win in 14 games.
Alex Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a home run for the Sox. Omar Vizquel, Alex Rios and Paul Konerko all had two hits.
Doug Fister (3-6) took the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits over six innings. Fister issued one walk and struck out six fir the Mariners, who sank to 3-14 for July.
The White Sox took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a walk to Rios followed by Konerko's double. Rios came home on a groundout by Mark Kotsay.
The Sox added two more in the fifth on an RBI double by Juan Pierre followed by consecutive singles by Vizquel and Rios that made it 3-0.
Ramirez closed out the scoring with his ninth home run of the season, off reliever Chris Seddon.
