Feuding Edwards, Keselowski penalized

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 21 (UPI) -- NASCAR penalized feuding drivers Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski for rule violations stemming from last week's incident at Gateway International Raceway.

Edwards was docked 60 Nationwide Series championship drivers' points, fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. Car owner Jack Roush was penalized with the loss of 60 series championship owners' points.

Keselowski was placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.

Edwards spun out Keselowski on the final turn and went on to win the Dodge Dealers 250, adding fuel to an ongoing feud between the two drivers. They have had previous on-track encounters, most notably when Edwards intentionally bumped Keselowski from behind and sent him flying into a wall of the Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta.

"The incident at the end of Saturday night's race at Gateway was unfortunate not just for Penske Racing and the No. 22 team, but for all of the teams that were caught up in the aftermath," Keselowski said in a statement.

"There was unnecessary damage done to a lot of race cars as a result of the incident, including one of our best cars. We support NASCAR's decision and we look forward to putting this behind us."
