PITTSBURGH, July 19 (UPI) -- Chris Capuano and four relievers held the Pirates to five hits Monday and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated Pittsburgh 3-1.

Capuano (1-1), making a spot start in place of the injured Doug Davis, allowed only three hits in five innings, walking one and striking out four.

Todd Coffey, Zach Braddock and Kameron Loe combined for three scoreless innings and John Axford picked up his 12th save to give the Brewers a win in the first contest of a three-game series at PNC Park.

Rickie Weeks smacked a two-run homer and Prince Fielder added a solo shot, his 23rd of the year, for the victors.

Jeff Karstens (2-5) absorbed the loss, yielding three runs on three hits over six innings.
