ST. LOUIS, July 18 (UPI) -- Matt Holiday's run-scoring hit in the ninth completed the St. Louis Cardinals' 5-4 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday.
The Cards entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 4-3 and were down to their last strike when they rebounded to score a pair of runs off Jonathan Broxton (3-1), stunning the Dodgers and sweeping a four-game series at Busch Stadium.
With two on and two out, Allen Craig lined a single up the middle, driving in Yadier Molina with the tying run and sending John Jay to second.
Holliday followed by blasting a pitch into the right field corner, easily scoring Jay with the winning run.
With the victory, the Cardinals took over first place in the National League Central, bypassing Cincinnati, which lost to Colorado Sunday.
