MLB: Cleveland 7, Detroit 2

CLEVELAND, July 18 (UPI) -- Jhonny Peralta hit an inside-the-park homer and Jeanmar Gomez won his first major league start Sunday, pacing the Cleveland Indians to a 7-2 win over Detroit.

Peralta's first-inning blast sent center fielder Ryan Raburn to the fence. He fell through the bullpen door as Jayson Nix, Carlos Santana and Peralta circled the bases to give the Indians an early 3-0 lead.

Nix went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Cleveland went on to complete a four-game sweep of Detroit, their first such sweep of the Tigers since 1991.

Gomez (1-0) was called up from the minors for a spot start and gave up just five hits and a walk while fanning four on 93 pitches.

Detroit Tiger Andy Oliver (0-4) was rocked for five runs on four hits over 3 2/3 innings.
