CLEVELAND, July 18 (UPI) -- Austin Kearns' 11th-inning single gave the Cleveland Indians a 2-1 victory over Detroit in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday.
The game-winner came after the contest was delayed in the eighth inning for nearly 2 hours and handed the Indians a doubleheader sweep. They downed Detroit 4-3 in the first game.
Cleveland put two runners on base with two outs against Detroit's Robbie Weinhardt (0-1) in the 11th and Kearns then laced a pitch into left field to bring home Jayson Nix with the winning run.
Rafael Perez (2-0) was credited with the win, hurling the final 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Carlos Santana went 2-for-3 with a homer for the victors.
Tigers starter Rick Porcello pitched well but got a no-decision, holding the Tribe to one run on six hits over eight innings.
