NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- Former New York Yankees great Yogi Berra is in good condition after suffering a fall, a source told Sunday's New York Daily News.
Berra, 85, missed Saturday's Old-Timers' Day at Yankee Stadium after falling on the porch of his Montclair, N.J., home. An unnamed source told the newspaper the former catcher underwent a procedure to stop bleeding from cuts on his nose but is in good condition.
The Daily News quoted the source as saying Berra, who takes the blood-thinner Coumadin, was hospitalized in Montclair after the bleeding intensified. A successful procedure was reportedly undertaken to stop the blood flow.
"They just want to keep him there for the day for observation," the source said, adding that Berra was expected to be released Sunday night.
