SAN DIEGO, July 17 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez touched off a five-run fourth with a two-run homer Friday and the San Diego Padres went on to pound Arizona 12-1.

Arizona held a 1-0 lead through three innings before the Padres began to pour it on with 14 hits en route to their second straight win. San Diego moved three games in front of second-place Colorado in the National League West.

After Gonzalez put San Diego in front for good with his homer off Dan Haren (7-8). Chase Headley doubled, moved to third on a single by Nick Hundley and scored on Aaron Cunningham's sacrifice fly.

A walk to Tony Gwynn and an infield single by pitcher Jon Garland loaded the bases and Jerry Hairston produced the fourth and fifth runs of the inning with a single.

Headley added a solo homer in the fifth and Scott Hairston drove in two more in the seventh with a double.

San Diego piled it on with four in the eighth -- Scott Hairston getting his third RBI of the contest when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Garland (9-6) collected the easy win, giving up three hits in six innings.
