CLEVELAND, July 17 (UPI) -- Travis Crowe's two-out single in the seventh drove in Matt LaPorta with the go-ahead run Saturday and the Cleveland Indians edged Detroit 4-3.
After Tigers starter Justin Verlander held the Indians to three runs over six innings, Phil Coke (5-1) came in to start the seventh inning and surrendered a two-out double to LaPorta.
After Shelley Duncan was intentionally walked, Crowe lined a solid RBI single to left, lifting the Indians to their second straight win over the Tigers in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.
Fausto Carmona (9-7) collected the victory, his third in four starts. He limited Detroit to three runs on six hits over seven innings and Carlos Perez notched his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.
Jason Donald and Michael Brantley also drove in runs for the Indians.
Carlos Guillen stroked a two-run single in the first inning for Detroit.
