Marion Jones's teammates to keep medals

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, July 16 (UPI) -- U.S. Olympians who teamed with Marion Jones for a relay win will be able to keep their medals, even though Jones was forced to forfeit hers.

The Court of Arbitration in Switzerland ruled Friday that Andrea Anderson, LaTasha Colander-Clark, Jearl Miles-Clark, Torri Edwards, Chryste Gaines, Monique Hennagan and Passion Richardson would be allowed to retain their Olympic medals.

Jones won two bronze and three gold medals in the 2000 Olympics but those results were thrown out after Jones admitted to use of performance enhancing drugs.

Jones was on teams that won the 4x400 relay and finished third in the 4x100 relay. The International Olympic Committee in 2008 said medals awarded to Jones's teammates must also be returned.

But the CoA said the other Americans in the race could keep their medals, accepting the argument that a 3-year ICO statute of limitations had been exceeded.

Miles-Clark, Hennagan, Colander-Clark and Anderson were part of the team that won gold in the 4x400 relay, while Gaines, Edwards, Perry and Richardson are allowed to keep their 4x100 bronze medals.
