RENO, Nev., July 16 (UPI) -- Robert Garrigus turned in a 7-under 65 Friday that lifted him into a share of the lead with Matt Bettencourt at the midway point of the Reno-Tahoe Open.

Garrigus, who lost in a playoff at the St. Jude Classic last month after he called a penalty on himself, was at 10-under 134 for 36 holes over the Montreux Golf & Country Club course.

Bettencourt, seeking his first PGA Tour title in his second year on the circuit, was also at 134 after firing a 68.

Alone in third at 138 was John Mallinger while Bob Heintz, Bill Lunde, John Merrick and Kevin Stadler were tied for fourth at 137.

Stadler, son of longtime touring professional Craig Stadler, has finished no better than 34th in any of his last 10 starts.

Chad Campbell, who fell in a playoff to Angel Cabrera at last year's Masters, was among those at 138.
