BOSTON, July 15 (UPI) -- Nelson Cruz and Bengie Molina both had two RBI during a six-run first Thursday, starting Texas on its way to a 7-2 victory over Boston.
The Rangers ended a four-game losing streak by roughing up Tim Wakefield for eight hits in a two-inning stint.
Texas left eight runners on base and had two others thrown out, but the quick start allowed Tommy Hunter to remain unbeaten for the season.
Hunter (6-0) allowed two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings while throwing 108 pitches. Wakefield (3-8) has only one victory over the last five weeks.
One-out singles by Michael Young, Ian Kinsler and Vladimir Guerrero accounted for a run in the first and Josh Hamilton then doubled in Kinsler.
Cruz followed with a two-run single and Molina next hit a two-run homer, his first since being obtained from the San Francisco Giants early this month. Molina came into the game with only four hits in 23 at bats with his new team.
The Boston home runs came from J.D. Drew in the fourth and Bill Hall in the seventh.
