BASTAD, Sweden, July 12 (UPI) -- No. 8-seeded Florent Serra was ousted in straight sets Monday in first-round play at the Swedish Open.

Potito Starace raced past Serra 6-2, 6-2 in 61 minutes. Starace won 72 percent of the points on serve and 61 percent for the match. He didn't suffer a service break but piled up four in eight games against Serra.

The other three main draw matches Monday all went three sets.

Andreas Vinciguerra slipped by Daniel Brands 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (5-7), 6-4; Fabio Fognini rallied for a 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 6-4 win over Filip Prpic; and Pere Riba topped Peter Luczak 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).

Vinciguerra, a local favorite, was a runner-up in the Swedish Open in 1999 and 2000. His win Monday moves him into the second round against top-seeded Robin Soderling, another local player.
