TORONTO, July 11 (UPI) -- Darnell McDonald and David Ortiz hit back-to-back home runs Sunday and the Boston Red Sox went on to defeat Toronto 3-2.
After Toronto's Jesse Litsch (0-4) no-hit the Red Sox for 5 2/3 innings, Marco Scutaro doubled in the sixth ahead of the homers by McDonald and Ortiz, which put Boston up 3-0.
Daisuke Matsuzaka (6-3) picked up the victory, hurling six shutout innings before yielding a two-run homer to Aaron Hill in the seventh. Daniel Bard provided two shutout innings in relief and Jonathan Papelbon hurled a scoreless ninth for his 20th save.
Boston took two wins in its three-game set with the Blue Jays and headed into the All-Star break with a 51-37 record, good for third in the American League East.
Toronto entered the break with a 44-45 mark, well down from the 31-22 record it sported at the end of May.
