Molinari leads Scottish Open

GLASGOW, Scotland, July 10 (UPI) -- Edoardo Molinari, seeking his first victory on the European Tour, moved a shot in front Saturday with one round to play in the Scottish Open.

Molinari shot the low round of the tournament, an 8-under 63 over the Loch Lomond Golf Club course, to finish 54 holes at 15-under 198. He was one ahead of Darren Clarke, who led the event after both the first and second rounds.

Clarke, a 13-time winner in Europe, shot a 67 to get to 199.

Molinari's younger brother Francesco and Peter Hedblom were a distant third at 205, followed by Shane Lowry and Graeme Storm at 207.

John Daly, who has played on the regular PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour and the European Tour this year, continued his best showing of 2010 by firing a 69 that put him in a tie for ninth at 209.

Graeme McDowell, competing for the first time since winning the U.S. Open last month at Pebble Beach, turned in a 68 and shared 14th place at 210.

Masters champion Phil Mickelson, who would have moved into the No. 1 spot in the world rankings with a win this week, missed the cut.
