ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 10 (UPI) -- Matt Garza and three relievers limited Cleveland to three hits Saturday and Tampa Bay won for the seventh time in eight games -- 4-0 over the Indians.
Garza (10-5) allowed a lone hit over six innings and moved within one victory of equaling his career high for a season. It was the first time since April 18 that he had pitched six innings without giving up a run.
Grant Balfour, Joaquin Benoit and Lance Cormier worked an inning each to finish off the shutout.
Gabe Kapler broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single in the fourth. Willy Aybar contributed an RBI single in the fifth and Jason Bartlett drove in a run with a bloop double in the eighth.
Aaron Laffey (1-3) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits in 5 2/3.
Austin Kearns had a double in the ninth for Cleveland, giving the Indians an extra base hit in 36 straight games. That is the longest such current streak in the American League.
