MLB: Phila. 9, Cincinnati 7 (10 innings)

PHILADELPHIA, July 9 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard completed a stunning comeback with a two-run homer in the 10th inning Friday, giving the Philadelphia Phillies a 9-7 victory over Cincinnati.

The Phillies trailed by six runs heading into the ninth, but sent 10 men to the plate in the frame to tie the contest. Howard had an RBI single in the ninth, Greg Dobbs hit a three-run homer and pinch-hitter Cody Ransom tied it with a two-out, two-run blast.

The unlikely rally gave the Phillies their second straight extra-innings victory and made a winner out of Ryan Madson (2-0), who worked the top of the 10th.

Cincinnati starter Mike Leake had retired 14-of-15 going into the ninth inning, but was removed after giving up the homer to Dobbs.

Francisco Cordero surrendered the home run to Ransom, who was called up from Class AAA Lehigh Valley less than a week ago.

The loss went to Arthur Rhodes (3-3), who coughed up a leadoff double to Raul Ibanez in the 10th and the homer by Howard, his 17th of the season.
