
LOS ANGELES, July 9 (UPI) -- Rafael Furcal's two-run homer in the seventh inning carried the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs Thursday.
Clayton Kershaw (9-4) took the win, giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out a season-high 12 batters in eight innings.
Furcal, who was 3-for-3 in the game, homered off Randy Wells (4-7), who was charged with three runs on six hits over seven innings.
James Loney gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first inning, but Chicago came back to tie it in the second on a long home run by Alfonso Soriano.
The Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Geovany Soto.
Los Angeles has won seven of its last 10 games. The Cubs came into Dodger Stadium off a three-game sweep in Arizona.
