MLB: Florida 6, Los Angeles Dodgers 5

LOS ANGELES, July 6 (UPI) -- Wes Helms delivered a two-run single in the third inning Monday and the Florida Marlins went on to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5.

Helms' hit scored Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla to make it 5-1 Florida, breaking the game open early and handing Florida a victory in the first contest of a three-game set at Dodgers Stadium.

Uggla finished the night 3-for-3, Nate Robertson (6-6) yielded three earned runs on seven hits over six innings and Leo Nunez fired a scoreless ninth to gain his 18th save for the Marlins.

Joe Ely (4-6) lasted only 2 2/3 innings for Los Angeles, surrendering six runs on nine hits.

Rafael Furcal launched a two-run homer in the Dodgers' loss, their second in seven games.
