DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 5 (UPI) -- Wimbledon champion Serena Williams remained No. 1 in women's tennis and tournament runner-up Vera Zvonareva returned to the Top 10 this week.
Williams' 13th major tournament championship, completed Saturday at Wimbledon in straight sets over Zvonareva, places her sixth on the all-time women's list for Grand Slam titles.
Her retention of the world No. 1 spot was the only position in the Top 10 this week that didn't change. She has 8,475 rankings points.
Zvonareva, whose appearance in Saturday's finals marked her first major tournament title match, went from No. 21 in pre-Wimbledon rankings to ninth this week.
Venus Williams (5,606 points), who lost to her sister Serena in the 2009 Wimbledon finals, went out in the quarterfinals this year and fell from second to fourth. Jelena Jankovic (5,900) moved from third to second and Caroline Wozniacki (5,630) went from fourth to third.
Samantha Stosur (4,890) is also up one place to fifth, trading places with Elena Dementieva (4,670). Kim Clijsters (4,510) moved from eighth to seventh, pushing French Open champion Francesca Schiavone (4,425) to eighth. Zvonareva has 3,965 rankings points and is ninth while Li Na (3,756) went from 12th to 10th. Agnieszka Radwanska (3,730) was ninth before Wimbledon and now is 11th.
