WASHINGTON, July 4 (UPI) -- Jason Bay drove in four runs and Angel Pagan collected three hits Sunday, helping the New York Mets bounce Washington 9-5.

Pagan also drove in a pair and Ike Davis smacked a two-run homer for New York, which split a four-game series at Nationals Park.

The Mets set the tone early by picking up two runs in the first inning on Bay's triple and Pagan increased the lead to 3-0 with a two-out RBI single in the second.

Hisanori Takahashi (7-3) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out seven over five-plus innings.

Washington was led by Ryan Zimmerman, who socked a three-run homer and added an RBI single.

Nationals starter Craig Stammen (2-3) was rocked for seven runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.
