PHOENIX, July 4 (UPI) -- Matt Kemp blasted a tie-breaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning Sunday, propelling the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over Arizona.
With the score tied 1-1 in the eighth, Rafael Furcal drew a one-out walk from Aaron Heilman (2-3) and Kemp lofted a 2-1 pitch over the wall. The opposite-field homer to right helped the Dodgers take the rubber match of a three-game series at Chase Field.
The blast made a winner of Hong-Chih Kuo (3-1), who tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Chad Billingsley. The Los Angeles starter went six innings, yielding only one run on seven hits and a walk. He struck out eight.
Diamondbacks starter Dan Haren earned a hard-luck no-decision after twirling seven strong innings, in which he allowed only one run on six hits.
