Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft
WASHINGTON, July 3 (UPI) -- Ivan Rodriguez singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth Saturday and the Washington Nationals posted a 6-5 comeback win over the New York Mets.
Trailing 5-3 and facing Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez (2-2), the Nationals rallied for three runs to win it.
Cristian Guzman walked, Willie Harris singled and Ryan Zimmerman also coaxed a walk to load the bases with no outs. Adam Dunn then delivered a double to center field to produce a 5-5 tie.
The Mets intentionally walked Jose Willingham to get to Rodriguez, but the veteran catcher crossed up that strategy by singling to right, scoring Zimmerman for the Nationals' second win in three games against New York.
Rodriguez and Zimmerman each went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair for Washington, whose rookie phenom pitcher Stephen Strasburg earned a no-decision after allowing two runs in five innings.
