Cook's second straight 66 tops Montreal

MONTREAL, July 3 (UPI) -- John Cook moved atop the leaderboard after two rounds of the Montreal Championship Saturday thanks to his second straight round of 6-under 66.

Cook wrapped up 36 holes at 12-under 132, one ahead of first round co-leader Russ Cochran, who carded a 4-under 68, good for sole possession of second place at minus-11.

Coming next were Fred Couples (66) and U.S. Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin (67) and six others tied for third, including Craig Stadler (65), D.A. Weibring (63), David Frost (68), Larry Mize (68), Peter Senior (68) and James Mason (69) -- all at minus-9.

First round co-leader Tom Wargo struggled to 1-under 71, falling into a share of 11th at minus-8 at Club de Golf Fontainebleau.
