Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria tied the game 4-4 in the ninth with an RBI double that scored Carl Crawford, who had four hits in the game.

Minnesota took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Michael Cuddyer and a run-scoring single by Michael Young. Tampa Bay tied it 2-2 with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

After the teams trade runs in the seventh, Minnesota grabbed a 4-3 lead in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Jason Kubel.
