
MINNEAPOLIS, July 2 (UPI) -- Willy Aybar's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning Thursday handed the Tampa Bay Rays a 5-4 win over Minnesota.
Aybar drove in pinch-hitter Reid Brignac, who led off the inning with a single and then moved to second when Kelly Shoppach was hit by a pitch from Matt Guerrier (1-3).
Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria tied the game 4-4 in the ninth with an RBI double that scored Carl Crawford, who had four hits in the game.
Lance Cormier (3-1) pitched the ninth and picked up the win. Rafael Soriano came on for the 10th and notched his 19th save.
Minnesota took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Michael Cuddyer and a run-scoring single by Michael Young. Tampa Bay tied it 2-2 with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
After the teams trade runs in the seventh, Minnesota grabbed a 4-3 lead in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Jason Kubel.
