
DENVER, July 2 (UPI) -- Aaron Cook registered his first win in six starts Thursday in the Colorado Rockies 7-3 win over San Francisco.
Carlos Gonzalez had a two-run homer for the Rockies, who churned out a dozen hits to send the struggling Giants to their sixth straight defeat in the opener of an 11-game road trip.
Cook (3-5) gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out four in 6 1/3 innings. Dexter Fowler had three hits and scored two runs for the Rockies, who have won three of their last four.
Madison Bumgarner (0-2) surrendered four runs on nine hits in seven innings in his second start of the season for San Francisco.
Rookie Buster Posey went 2-for-4 for the Giants, including a solo home run. Aaron Rowand drove in the other two San Francisco runs with a base hit.
