Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge arrested for theft
PITTSBURGH, July 1 (UPI) -- Jose Tabata drove in the decisive run Thursday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 3-2 win over Philadelphia.
Tabata drove in Andy LaRoche from second base with a two-out single in the fourth inning to give the Pirates a 3-1 edge.
Daniel McCutchen (1-3) got his first win of the season, giving up two runs -- one earned -- on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. Octavio Dotel left the tying run at third in the ninth for his 17th save.
Cole Hamels (6-7) continued his current slump, losing for the fifth time in his last six decisions. He turned in a solid start, giving up three runs on five hits and striking out eight.
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but Wilson Valdez hit his fourth home run of the season in the third inning to tie the score.
Pittsburgh answered with a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Pedro Alvarez and added their third run on Tabata's RBI in the fourth.
