
BALTIMORE, July 1 (UPI) -- Ryan Sweeney, Jack Cust and Cliff Pennington each accounted for two RBI Tuesday in the Oakland Athletics' 8-1 romp over Baltimore.
The A's banged out 15 hits in support of Trevor Cahill (8-2), who won his seventh straight decision. He gave up one run on four hits and struck out four in seven innings while grounding the Birds, who have won five of seven games.
Jake Arrieta (2-2) took the loss with four runs on seven hits and four walks in six innings.
Nick Markakis gave Baltimore a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly that borough Corey Patterson in from third base.
The A's struck back with a three-run second inning, highlighted by Pennington's two-run double.
Oakland scored another run in the fifth to make it 4-1, and tacked on four more in the seventh.
