NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Felix Hernandez struck out 11 in a two-hit shutout Wednesday and the Seattle Mariners throttled the New York Yankees 7-0.
Hernandez (6-5) was dominant in the 117-pitch gem, his third career shutout. He walked three and allowed only one runner to get as far as third in the contest, the fourth straight in which Hernandez pitched at least 8 2/3 innings.
Michael Saunders bashed a pair of homers and Russell Branyan and Milton Bradley each added round-trippers as the Mariners won their second straight at Yankee Stadium and will seek to sweep the series Thursday.
Javier Vazquez (6-7) took the loss for first-place New York, surrendering three runs on six hits over six innings.
