ST. LOUIS, June 30 (UPI) -- Chris Young homered Wednesday, helping Barry Enright win his first major league start, a 4-2 Arizona Diamondbacks decision over St. Louis.
Enright (1-0) went five innings in his debut, holding the Cards to one run on four hits, surviving four walks and striking out five.
The right-hander was called up from Class AA Mobile so the D-backs could push back a scheduled start by Edwin Jackson, who tossed a 149-pitch no-hitter against Tampa Bay Friday.
Aaron Heilman notched his third save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Young connected for his 14th homer, a two-run shot, in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie.
Jeff Suppan (0-4) yielded three runs on nine hits in a 5 2/3-inning performance for the Cards, who were knocked out of first place in the National League Central after Cincinnati downed Philadelphia earlier Wednesday.
