SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, June 29 (UPI) -- Dan Uggla's ninth-inning single drove in the winning run Tuesday to give the Florida Marlins a 7-6 win over the New York Mets in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
With the score tied entering the ninth at Hiram Bithorn Stadium, Jorge Cantu pounded a two-out double off Pedro Feliciano (2-3) and Uggla followed with a single to bring in Cantu and give interim Marlins skipper Edwin Rodriguez a win on the day he was tapped to lead the club for the rest of the season.
Florida salvaged the win after Leo Nunez (3-1) blew a two-run lead in the top of the ninth, surrendering a run-scoring groundout by Jeff Francoeur and an RBI single to pinch-hitter Josh Thole.
Hanley Ramirez smacked a grand-slam homer in third inning for Florida.
Ruben Tejada went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Mets.
