Burglars strike home of Steelers' Hampton

PITTSBURGH, June 29 (UPI) -- Thieves broke into the home of Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton and stole flat-screen TVs and watches, police say.

Authorities said Monday burglars cut phone lines to disable the alarm system of Hampton's home in Pittsburgh's Point Breeze neighborhood and ransacked the residence, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Police said an assistant to Hampton checked the house Thursday to discover the break-in, in which three large, flat-screen televisions were taken, as well as two expensive watches.

Investigators told the newspaper Hampton -- who in February agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract with the Steelers -- left the city in May to travel to Texas.
