MLB: Atlanta 5, Washington 0

ATLANTA, June 29 (UPI) -- Tim Hudson out-dueled rookie sensation Stephen Strasburg Monday, hurling seven strong innings in the Atlanta Braves' 5-0 decision over Washington.

Hudson (8-3) and Strasburg (2-2) each put up six scoreless innings, but the Braves broke through with a five-run seventh to deal the Washington rookie his second straight loss.

Hudson surrendered five hits and three walks while striking out six to gain his ninth win in 10 career decisions against the Nationals and hand first-place Atlanta its 17th win in 19 home games.

The Braves got RBI singles from Yunel Escobar, Gregor Blanco and Omar Infante in their big inning, with Eric Hinske and Martin Prado adding sacrifice flies.

Strasburg ended up allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits over 6 1/3 innings. He added seven more strikeouts to raise his total to 48 over his first five starts.

Roger Bernadina collected a pair of hits for the Nationals, losers of five straight and 11 in 13 games.
