KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 26 (UPI) -- Colby Rasmus bashed a three-run homer and Skip Schumaker added a two-run shot Saturday in the St. Louis Cardinals' 5-3 inter-league win over Kansas City.
Rasmus' clout put the Cards up 3-0 in the fourth and Schumaker tacked on two more with his blast in the next frame, allowing St. Louis to bounce back from a loss in Friday's opening contest of a three-game series with its inter-league Missouri rivals.
Blake Hawksworth (2-4) held the Royals to one earned run on two hits over five innings. Ryan Franklin got the final five outs for his 15th save of the season.
Kansas City starter Kyle Davies (4-6) surrendered four earned runs over seven innings of work.
David DeJesus went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the Royals' loss.
