ANAHEIM, Calif., June 23 (UPI) -- Howie Kendrick had three hits and drove in the winning run Tuesday in the Los Angeles Angels 6-3 inter-league win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bobby Abreu connected for a three-run homer and Kevin Frandsen drove in the other two Angels runs with a triple.
The win was the 14th in the last 19 games for the surging Halos. It was also their fourth in a row over the Dodgers and clinched this season's "Freeway Series" between the Southern California rivals.
Kendrick, who was 3-for-4, broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning by bouncing a single through the right side of the infield off Dodgers reliever Ronald Belisario with runners at the corners. Frandsen followed with his two-run triple that made it 6-3.
The loss went to Clayton Kershaw (7-4) who went six scoreless innings before being hung with five runs in the seventh. Matt Kemp had a solo home run for the Dodgers, who lost their fifth consecutive game.
Ervin Santana (7-5) earned the win, giving up three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings. Brian Fuentes picked up his 11th save for the Angels.
