ST. LOUIS, June 20 (UPI) -- Mark Ellis drove in the tie-breaking run with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly Sunday in the Oakland Athletics' 3-2 inter-league victory over St. Louis.
Conor Jackson stroked a one-out single in the eighth and Kevin Kouzmanoff sent him to third with another single off Blake Hawksworth (1-4).
Trever Miller relieved for the Cardinals and promptly surrendered a sacrifice fly to Ellis, who drove in Jackson with the decisive run and enabled the A's to salvage one contest of their three-game series at Busch Stadium.
Craig Breslow (2-1) earned the victory after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Trevor Cahill, who surrendered two runs in six innings, and Andrew Bailey posted a four-out save for the A's, his 13th of the year.
Kouzmanoff homered and went 4-for-4 in the Oakland victory.
Matt Holliday socked a pair of solo homers and went 3-for-4 for the Cardinals.
