
HOUSTON, June 18 (UPI) -- Rookie Justin Smoak drove in a career-best four runs Friday, two of them with his ninth homer of the season, helping the Texas Rangers roll over Houston 9-3.
The Rangers have won six in a row, their longest such streak of the season.
Texas broke open a scoreless tie with a six-run third that featured a two-run double by Smoak and a two-run single by Josh Hamilton.
Hamilton extended his hitting streak to 14 games, went 3-for-5 and boosted his batting average to .327.
Scott Feldman (5-6) picked up the win, giving up three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts in seven innings. Feldman also doubled to open the big third inning for the Rangers.
Wandy Rodriguez (3-10) survived only three innings in absorbing the loss. He allowed six runs on four hits.
