MLB: New York Mets 8, Cleveland 4

CLEVELAND, June 16 (UPI) -- Angel Pagan had three of New York's 14 hits and touched off a five-run third with an RBI double Wednesday, leading the Mets to an 8-4 win over Cleveland.

Pagan also drove in two runs with a single in the sixth while the Mets were heading to their sixth straight victory. New York had seven doubles and ran its run total to 26 over its last three games.

Jonathan Niese (4-2), who threw his first career shutout in his previous start, gave up three runs on eight hits in seven innings. David Wright contributed two RBI for the Mets and Ike Davis had two doubles and an RBI.

Cleveland lost its third straight on the heels of a four-game winning streak. Shelley Duncan hit his second two-run homer in as many games for the Indians.

Mitch Talbot (7-5) suffered through 5 2/3 innings, giving up a career-worst eight runs on 13 hits.

The Mets batted around in the third and got consecutive doubles from Pagan, Wright, Davis and Jason Bay.
