ANAHEIM, Calif., June 16 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Angels infielder Maicer Izturis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left forearm, the team said Wednesday.
Izturis is the latest Angels infielder to suffer an injury. Kendry Morales was lost for the year after fracturing his left leg in a home plate celebration scrum, while shortstop Erick Aybar has been diagnosed with meniscal damage in his left knee after being taken out with a hard slide by the Milwaukee Brewers' Casey McGehee Monday.
The Angels said Aybar would be re-evaluated this week.
Los Angeles was forced to start Brandon Wood at shortstop Wednesday for the first time this season.
In a corresponding move, the Angels recalled reliever Sean O'Sullivan from Triple-A Salt Lake while utility infielder Robb Quinlan was kept on the team instead being sent down to the minors as had been scheduled.
