
PITTSBURGH, June 15 (UPI) -- Gordon Beckham's run-scoring single in the sixth inning put Chicago ahead Tuesday and the White Sox went on to down Pittsburgh 6-4.
Alexi Ramirez singled off Brad Lincoln (0-1) to start the sixth and went to second when Ramon Castro drew a walk. Beckham's subsequent hit proved to be the game-winner, boosting Chicago to a victory in the first contest of a three-game inter-league series with the Pirates.
Beckham ended with three runs batted in on a pair of hits and Ramirez chipped in with a two hits and an RBI for the victors.
Freddy Garcia (7-3) got the win, allowing four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Bobby Jenks collected his 12th save with a scoreless ninth.
Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Garrett Jones drove in a pair for the Pirates.
