Titans' McRath suspended for four games

NASHVILLE, June 14 (UPI) -- Tennessee linebacker Gerald McRath was suspended for four games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, the league said Monday.

Titans Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed the suspension by the NFL.

McRath, a second-year pro, will be able to join the team for training camp and pre-season games but won't be eligible for a regular-season game until Oct. 10, when the Titans play at Texas.

"I have been aware of the situation," Fisher said Monday. "I'd say that it didn't come as a surprise because Gerald has gone through the appeal process.

"There are situations where even though you think you are taking a product that is safe, often times there are contaminated batches. With that being said, we are still pulling together some information. The league's decision is final and we will be without Gerald."

McRath, 23, played in all 16 games, including five starts, for Tennessee as a rookie last season, making 47 tackles. He had one interception.
