Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MANCHESTER, Mass., June 13 (UPI) -- The United States romped to its seventh straight Curtis Cup title Sunday, splitting eight singles matches with Great Britain & Ireland.
Sunday's title was set up by a great performance Saturday, when the United States swept all six matches. The final tally was United States 12 1/2, GB&I 7 1/2.
The win improved the U.S. record in the Curtis Cup to 27-6-3.
The Americans needed to win only 1 1/2 points Sunday to keep the cup and two points to nail down the win.
Jennifer Johnson secured the cup for the Americans in the day's third match, when she bested Rachel Jennings, 5 & 4, give the United States the 10 1/2 points it needed for victory.
